#MAD No 9 - April 2018 Newsletter

My message
We are in the month of April. For the Rotary year, the month of April has a feeling of achievement to it. We start to look back at our year as it goes into its final quarter and reflect on all that we did to make a difference in our respective Rotary roles. This looking back and winding down in April is especially true for me as the Governor of District 9350 and for my Presidents of 2017-2018.
I wanted to capture the essence of our year and asked all the 2017-2018 Presidents to collate and send me a slide of their club's highlights. What a delight to go through these slides and to remember again how amazing our D9350 clubs are and just how huge an impact they make in their communities – a true reflection of the difference they made and will continue to make in 2018-2019.
This #MAD 9 edition is dedicated to the 2017-2018 Presidents; to the clubs who made our 2017-2018 year a remarkable year with many achievements: from increasing our members to well over 1200 through the recording and showcasing of our projects (“citation success!”) to making tine for friendships and fellowship – you are all stars!
Do take time to study all these slides of the clubs and get to know and appreciate your fellow clubs in the District. Then let us all start planning to do more club raids in the next Rotary year.
April is of course one of the most important months of a Governor’s year. April is dedicated to Conference planning – the final details. We are one week away from our District Conference in Luderitz and I can say with absolute conviction that a conference will fail miserably if it had to depend on a District Governor. Fortunately there is a Host Organising Committee (HOC) and its Chair to make sure all the boxes are ticked. Thank you Rotary Club of Luderitz! And all will agree that the registration and website information were superb – all thanks to AG Stephen Stocks and his many talents.
I do understand that for many Namibia is just too far to travel. We know you will be with us in spirit during the ultimate MAD Discon-18 of 3-6 May. I will try my utmost to keep you informed during the conference via our website and facebook. And look out for your final #MAD edition as it will cover all the highlights of the conference.
This Rotary Year has been one of the most significant milestones in my life and I have you, the Rotarians of D9350, to thank for unforgettable  memories.
Huge hugs!
Lynette Stassen (District Governor 2017 – 2018)
