DISTRICT 9350

District Goals for 2010 - 2011

Membership:

  • Charter three new Clubs
  • A minimum of one more member per Club by 30 March 2011.
  • Happy clubs that are Bigger, Better and Bolder.
  • 90% membership Retention in each Club.

Rotary Foundation Programmes:

  • Total contribution from all Clubs in the District to the Rotary Foundation Annual Fund to be R850,000.
  • Gates Polio Challenge: Each club to make a contribution to Polioplus. The Foundation target is $1000 (R8 500) per club, which some clubs may not be able to achieve. Key is each club should make a contribution.
  • One Ambassadorial Scholar to be selected for study in another country.
  • One Group Study Exchanges.
  • To establish a District Foundation Alumni Association and a database of Foundation Alumni.

Public Relations:

  • District PR Committee to apply for the Rotary International PR Grant.
  • Every Club to get an editorial or advertisement in a local newspaper.
  • Each Club to invite a member of the media to a Club meeting.
  • Education programme to ensure the correct use of the Rotary Logos (i.e. the Rotary Brand)

New Generations:

  • Twenty-Five students to take part in the Short Term Exchange Programme (STEP).
  • Fifteen students to take part in the Long Term Youth Exchange Programme.
  • Five RYLA Camps (level 1) to be held, of which one to be held in the Southern Cape and one in Namibia.
  • Two RYLA Camps (level 2) to be held.
  • ROTEX: Establish an effective ROTEX Association
  • Earlyact: Charter three new Clubs
  • Interact: Charter ten new Clubs
  • Rotaract: Charter two new Clubs
  • Data base of Interactors, Rotaractors, RYLA participants, Long and Short Term Exchange students to be established.

Leadership Training:

  • Two Potential Rotary Leaders Seminars (PRLS) - Level 1 to be held. Minimum of 40 Rotarians to get training.
  • One PRLS - Master course to be held.

Communications, Website and Data Bases:

  • Involving Rotarians at remote locations in meetings: Rotarians, who due to distance from the meeting venue cannot attend, to be connected via an audio link.
  • Email communication between District and Clubs to be substantially improved.
  • Website to be marketed to Clubs and Rotarians as a useful tool.
  • Data bases to be set up for Foundation Alumni and for New Generations.

NEW GENERATIONS’ GOALS FOR 2010-2011

General Goals for all New Generations work across all clubs and within District

  1. 100% of clubs  commit to investing in New Generations as the future of Rotary
  2. 80% of Rotary clubs have their New Generations representative listed in directory
  3. 75% of  clubs have New Generations Representatives on their club boards
  4. District finances reflect an annual allocation for New Generations
  5. District and clubs commit to improving SA demographic representation in NG work 
  6. Creation of bursary fund at district level to widen access to New Generations projects
  7. Efficient data base of all youth on all New Generations programmes as source for future members for  all Rotary clubs in District 9350
  8. Ensure continuum of Rotary ideals and community service from primary school (Early Act), through to high schools (Interact and exchanges), through to early adults, Rotaractors, into Rotary and Senior Active

  EarlyAct Goals:

  1. Charter 20 new EarlyAct clubs
  2. Regular marketing of EarlyAct and improved communication through articles in all Rotary communication media, including website, magazines, newsletters

 Interact Goals

  1. Charter 20 new Interact clubs; retain and strengthen current Interact clubs
  2. District Committee to assist clubs to retain existing and charter new Interact clubs

International Youth Exchange Goals

  1. 20 students participate in Short Term Exchange Programme (STEP)
  2. 10 students participate in Long term International Exchange

Local Cultural Exchange Goals 

  1. 5 Exchange students take part in local cross cultural exchange

Rotaract Goals

  1. Charter 3 new Rotaract clubs and retain and strengthen current Rotaract clubs
  2. Increase visibility of Rotaract in District , growing numbers of Rotaractors and clubs 
  3. Provide sufficient training for Rotaractors to ensure effective clubs 
  4. Create opportunities for young adults to easily become involved in Rotary family 
  5. Promote better relations between Rotaract clubs within District and Internationally 

RYLA Goals

  • 5 level one camps, one in Namibia, one in Southern Cape, 3 in Western Cape
  • 80% of district clubs sponsoring learners to attend camps
  • Formalise RYLA partnership with Rotaract and role players to ensure sustainability 
  • Work with funding partners to expand RYLA reach and reduce costs for clubs
