As Rotarians from 32 Clubs in District 9350 make their way to Worcester (Western Cape) for Mini-Conference, 1000s more, worldwide, will be marking World Polio Day.

In one of the more unusual events, Rotaract, the long-established youth arm of Rotary and now a full Rotary Partner, have initiated a worldwide Thunderclap. At 10:00 CDT on 24 October, a one-time message and video link be posted on consenting social media subscribers' profiles in a 'shout' that's sure to be heard around the world. To join the Thunderclap, sign up here.

You can also participate by donating to the polio cause and you will have your donation tripled - yes, TRIPLED - by a match from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. To make your contribution click here.

And for those D9350 who are still awake at 00:30 (SA Time) on the 24th, there's a live-streaming global status update with TIME Senior Editor Jeffrey Kluger, UNICEF Executive Director Anthony Lake, Emmy Award-winner Archie Panjabi, Grammy Award-winner Angelique KidjoThe Doctors and more.
